3.7 Trapped Resources - How SkillsTX can help

SkillsTx helps overcome the concept of Trapped Resources. Those considering leaving the organization due to the inability to see a future within the organization.

  • Being able to view ALL roles available and select Future roles provides employees with an insight into their future within the organization and makes provisions for future planning

  • Because the organizational skill matrix is based on “all the skills an organization has available”, not only those related to current job definitions, it provides a platform for employees to showcase skills not normally associated with their current roles, and to see and be offered opportunities they may not have normally been considered for

The following is the scenario we are going to address:

Bridgette Kellum

Bridgette feels that she is wasted as a Network Analyst. This is because she has a bachelor degree in Digital Marketing. It is also a role she has enjoyed doing previously BUT not something she is able to use in her current role.

She has a desire to get involved in Marketing once again.

  1. Bridgette notices that a new Marketer position has recently been defined and decides to set that as her Future job

  2. Based on her Profile matching:

    1. She actually has all the required Marketing skills, although currently set as Knowledge, so she will need to get back up to date with those

    2. She will also need to at skilling-up for RSCH (Research) and BINT (Business Intelligence) as well improve her Influence and Business skills Generic Attributes.

    3. But although there are still quite a few gaps for her to close, at least in this way she can see a way forward and a future in EBS

    4. And of course keeps her organizational knowledge within the organization saving both training effort and budget


Looking at the Analytics (Search for Candidate) it can be see that there are in fact 3 people that have a much better match for the Marketer role than Bridgette:

However they already have much more senior roles, and it is doubtful they would be interested in just doing a Marketing role

Instructions

  1. Log into a Planner session for Bridgette Kellum. (b.kellum@skiullogger.com)

  2. Match the Future Job for Bridgette to show the gaps between her Current Profile and the Marketer Job. e.g.

  3. Use the Workspace Analytics either via demo.admin@skillogger.com or you can use the Planner login for r.leadbetter@skillogger.com and select the Search for Candidate analytics page.

  4. Select a Minimum Match Range threshold of approx 12% and filter on Requirement Name for Marketer (Use Search facility).

These steps describe the User Case scenario above.
