EBS Services has a vacancy for a Chief Security Information Officer (CISO). The following describes the steps that were taken to prepare to fill the vacancy.

Steps taken

  1. The Job definition for the CISO role was setup.
    1. First the sample job Security Specialist was sourced in Job/Role Management, copied into the Workspace and renamed Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). This was chosen because it was expected that many of the Security related skills would apply.
    2. Then the new Job was edited to suit the requirements for the role of CISO.
  2. Using the Candidate Job Matching Analytics, selecting the CISO job and using the External Candidate=False filter it was established that there was no one internally that matched the skills criteria. The closest being Franklin with 36.67% of the required skills.
  3. The Recruitment feature was then utilised by providing the Recruitment Invite link (see under Configure Workspace) on the EBS website Job Vacancies Page
  4. Three (3) people responded by selecting the link and completing the Candidate form, which then automatically uploaded them into the system and sent them the Self-Assessment survey invitation email
  5. The 3 people completed their surveys. (Refer Track Survey Progress)
    • e.g.
  6. Using the Candidate Job Matching Analytics again and selecting the External Candidate=True filter, it was established that one particular candidate (Willowdean Stam) was most suitable for the role with a 66.3% match on required skills.
  7. Martine has arranged an initial remote interview session, (because the person was based in New York), and intend to make use of Willowdean's Self-Assessed profile to lead the discussion and establish that his Self-Assessed profile does indeed reflect his true capabilities.
    1. You can download a copy of Willowdean's Individual Skills Profile report from 2. EB Services downloads
  8. A follow up person-to-person style interview will be arranged provided the initial interview shows promise to establish other aspects such as cultural fit etc.

The 66.3%  match on required skills for Willowdean indicates to Martine that Willowdean still has some headroom for gaining some of the needed skills, a preferred position as it would indicate he would not become too quickly bored in the role. With a scenario such as a 100% match, there would be some worry that Willodean would not be intending to remain long in the role, or they would be quickly bored.

Note: This would be different in the case of hiring a consultant or Subject Matter Expert for a particular set of tasks where you would expect them to be up and running ASAP, and you would be expecting to only pay for the skills needed for the tasks.
