8.1 Create Job/Role List and Assign Definers

This task is used to create Job and Role definitions from scratch and then assigning them to people to define using survey methodology.

Tip

Alternative and now more common methods are to use Sample Templates, copy or combine a set of other Jobs/Roles that have already been defined, or doing Bulk Uploads from the Job Role Management task

Description and Usage

Being Assessed

Use this table to select the Job/Role definition for which you wish to assign a definer. It shows the number of definers waiting to be selected or Team Max Allocated once someone has been selected.

Available Persons

Use this table to select the person that is to be assigned as a Definer

Assigned Persons

Shows the people that have been assigned to the 2 different style Definer roles

  • Expert Definer

  • Standard Definer


Survey Types:

Standard Definers - Utilises a structured and detailed style survey to define a Job/Role definition, similar to the Self-Assessment survey. Designed  to allow people with little or no SFIA knowledge to still be able to create a Job or Role.

Expert Definers - Utilises simple tick-box style surveys to define a Job/Role definition. Designed for SFIA Experts or people with good knowledge of SFIA to use a survey to define a Job/Role definition.


Add/Delete/Edit a Job/Role in the list Step-by-step guide

  1. Add:

    1. Input a name for the new Job/Role definition in the New Job or Role Names field

    2. Press the Add+ button to add the name to the list

  2. Delete:

    1. Select the Job or Role from the Being Assessed list

    2. Press the Delete- button to remove it from the list

  3. Edit (Name):

    1. Select the Job or Role from the Being Assessed list

    2. Press the Edit◊ button

    3. Change the Name in the pop-Up window.

      • e.g.

    4. Press the Save button in the pop-up window


Assign Definer Roles Step-by-step guide

  1. Select the Job or Role to be defined from the Being Assessed table

  2. Select the Definer from the Available Persons table

  3. Assign the person to the required role by selecting the appropriate button Note: The number in brackets indicates the max number that can be assigned to that role:

    1. Assign Standard Definer (1) →

    2. Assign Expert Definer (1) →

Remove Definer Roles Step-by-step guide

  1. Select the Job or Role to be defined from the Being Assessed table

  2. Select the Definer from the Assigned Persons table

    • e.g. 

    • Note: You may need to expand the lists to see the assigned Definer

  1. Press the ←Remove button to remove them and return them to the Available Persons table
