SFIA8 (Page)

For SFIA8:

  • It displays the 5 Generic Attribute LoRs, BUT you are unable to toggle their visibility.

For SFIA9 this page provides the functionality for:

  • Managing the visibility Visibility and Optional Selection features of the Business skills / Behavioural factors (only) and assigning Attributes to them.

Hiding Business skills / Behavioural factors (SFIA9)

The Business skills / Behavioural factors introduced at SFIA v9 Skill attributes Factors introduced for SFIA9 are able to be toggled ON/Off to be made Visible/Hidden should you decide that you do not wish to make them available to your organization.

This The functionality provides the ability to “Hide” selected Professional Skills Business skills / Behavioural factors from being:

  1. Included in the SFIA Category surveysSurveys.

  2. From being selected for Requirements (Jobs/Roles).

  3. Selected by individuals for their Skill Profiles.

Note
  • This functionality should be used with caution, and with properly considered intent. i.e. There should be good reasons why you have chosen to Hide SFIA skills, them as it will mean the full SFIA Framework they will no longer be visible to individuals or included in Requirements (Jobs/Roles).

  • The Export Skills Hidden, can be used to produce an Export file that includes information regarding whether or not the Skills have already been selected in either Individuals Profiles or Requirements. This may assist in deciding whether or not to Hide a skill.

This functionality works in conjunction with the Admin Setting Allow Show Hidden Skills.

  • If this has been set = No, then the skills remain hidden for selection when editing Skill Profiles and Requirements.

  • If this has been set = Yes, then their visibility can be toggled On/Off using the Show/Hide Hidden Skills buttons by individuals and people managing (editing) Requirements. However the Show/Hide is only for reference purposes. While it can be selected, the skill will in effect still remain hidden from surveys etc.

Hiding Skills

Slide the individual Skill is Shown toggle for each skill
  • Example reason: You may already have similar or duplicated factors featured in an Alternative Framework.

  • The 4 standard Generic Attributes while visible, are currently unable to be toggled to be hidden. Although the toggle switches are is shown, they will remain inactive.

Optional Selection of Generic Attributes, Business skills / Behavioural factors (SFIA9)

The Generic Attributes., Business skills / Behavioural factors introduced for SFIA9 are able to be toggled to be Optional should you decide that for your organization.

The functionality provides the ability to make them Optionally select-able when people edit their Profile or for Requirements (Jobs/Roles/Views). This means for those made optional:

  1. Optionally selected for Requirements (Jobs/Roles/Views etc).

  2. Optionally selected by individuals for their Skill Profiles, and de-selected if already selected.

    • Note: They may be selected as part of the Survey process which requires them to be selected.

Managing LoR Attributes

LoR attributes are Attributes specific to your organization that lie outside the scope of the detailed SFIA descriptions, and that you wish to have associated with specific LoRs. They provide the ability to tailor aspects such as the processes or certifications requirements for your organization. These can then be included in Job definitions and people can select them in their skill profiles. Attributes can also from part of the skill gap determination.

Attributes such as:

  • Processes (e.g. ITIL, Prince 2, ISO27001 etc)

  • Legislation (Tax, Immigration etc)

  • Specific Certifications

  • etc.

These can be added, updated or deleted in-situ or you can use the Export and Import functionality.

 Adding an attribute in-situ

  • Select the edit button of the SFIA Lor you wish to add Attributes to

  1. e.g.

  2. Select the +Add New button

  3. Provide the Attribute with a name that reflects what it is

  4. URL Links can be included, and if you wish the Attribute can be Hidden (usually only needed when they become redundant however).

  5. Use the Save button to save the Attributes association with the LoR

    1. More Attributes can be added in the same session if required.

  6. Use the Return “<“ button to return to

being visible to the Left (Green)

Changing (editing) an Attribute already associated with an LoRs in situ

  1. Select the Edit button of the Lor you wish to make Attribute changes to

  2. Then use the similar Edit button associated with the Attribute wish wish to change.

  3. Make the changes in the same way as shown for Adding an Attribute above.

  4. Use the Save button to save your changes and the Return button as per above.

Deleting an LoR Attribute:

LoR Attributes can only be deleted if they have not been currently selected in either a Requirement or a Persons Profile. The delete Icon will only show if un-selected.

Setting the Attribute to Hiddden is way of preventing further selections and/or a precursor to being able to delete it.

  1. Edit the LoR as per above

  2. Attributes that are able to be deleted (i.e. not selected in a Requirement or in a Skill Profile) will show a Delete icon alongside the Edit icon

  3. Use the Delete Icon button associated with the Attribute to delete the Attribute.

  4. Once you have deleted all the required Attributes for that Lor, use the Return button as per above.
